Hello! Thanks for checking in! This snowy selfie was taken during our visit to family in Washington, DC on January 3rd. The snowstorm was an unusual event there, and a treat for our 4-year-old grandson.
As we write this “testing” blog post, another snowstorm is swirling around us at home in Massachusetts! Hard to believe that in 10 days we will be boarding the Serenity in Miami!
We hope to include photos and brief descriptions of our adventures in this blog as we cruise with Crystal on her Grand Voyage 2022!

We’re not in Miami yet! This picture was taken in late September 2021 in Memphis. We were visiting on the American Queen Riverboat and posed with this Elvis statue.
Our flights to Miami are set for this Sunday and we are getting excited!

faithful traveling companion. We board the ship at 12noon.

Today we enjoyed a tour in Mexico in the Yucatan.

Not far away is the beautiful city Merida with one of the oldest Cathedrals in the Western Hemisphere. Fortunes were made from the production of rope and the beautiful homes and buildings gave Merida the title, “Paris of the New World”.

Yesterday guests and crew were informed that Crystal Cruises will be suspending operation for the next four months. Here is a quote from the company president, Jack Anderson: “This was an extremely difficult decision but a prudent one given the current business environment and recent developments with our parent company, Genting Hong Kong.” “Crystal has been synonymous with luxury cruising for more than 30 years and we look forward to welcoming back our valued guests when we resume our operations.”
This means instead of giving our followers a virtual travel treat all the way to the end of May, our cruise will end on January 30!

016.JPG
Guests are eager to enjoy the remaining days onboard and the ports to come. (Of course, everyone is shocked and saddened by the news.) We have enjoyed great snorkeling in Cozumel, but today…

018.JPG
We took a brief walk into town and bought packing tape in “Mega Superstore”.

019.JPG
We are not planning to jump ship (ha ha), but we expect to fully enjoy the people, crew and events in the next 9 days.

Costa Rica is the 2nd smallest country in Central America, about the size of West Virginia. We are docked in Puerto Limon for two days, the first day next to the Eurodam and the next day the Emerald Princess.

A peaceful country, Costa Rica is prosperous because of the coffee plantations. National Parks and wildlife preserves protect much of this beautiful country.

Our Sunday worship service was late in the afternoon on our first day in port. Today, Monday, we enjoyed lunchtime pizza and wine in deck 12’s “Silk” restaurant.

Incredibly Shortened Trip

Hiding out in Bimini

snow 31 °F

We are now home, enjoying winter in New England! Our planned departure port in Aruba was canceled almost at the last minute by the port authorities! We made a left turn and headed to Bimini, Bahamas. From there we were ferried to Ft Lauderdale, Florida and then we flew home the next day.
The fate of Crystal Cruises is unknown. We are hoping for the best for the wonderful crew and the thousands of guests who have a special place in their hearts and minds for these beautiful ships.
We will be posting some photos of the Serenity sometime soon. Thank you for following our little voyage and major adventure!
